Job Details
DescriptionWhite Sands, a HumanGood life plan community (CCRC) in beautiful La Jolla, CA, is seeking a Per Diem Certified Medication Technician for our Wellness Center. As the largest nonprofit owner/operator of senior living communities in California and one of the largest in the country, we are more than just a place to work. You would develop awareness of residents’ interests and needs and assist residents to maximize their independence.
Shifts: Per Diem
Pay Rate: $22.50 - $25.50 per hour
  • Ensures safe, accurate assistance with resident medication, including physician order verification, interaction with pharmacies, checking medications for accuracy/correctness;
  • Review and complete the Medication Administration Record (MAR) to record the physician orders and medications;
  • Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered;
  • Will ensure assistance of resident’s medication in a timely manner as prescribed by physician’s orders;
  • May take vital signs or observe resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions; (This function is only performed to the extent provided for by state regulation).
  • Facilitate medication orders as required;
  • Monitors stock of medical supplies and orders new supplies as needed;
  • Completes Weekly Audits of MARS and notifies Director or supervisor of audit results and needed corrective action; Weekly Audits are encouraged to be performed by licensed nurses, to maintain LN oversight of the med program. Med Aids/Techs are advised to audit EHR for missed meds on a daily basis, prior to leaving their shift
Education
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
Experience/Training
  • Vocational/technical training in the nursing field specifically with elderly preferred;
  • up to 40 hours training under licensed professional, or other requirements as prescribed by the state regulations governing residential senior living or skilled nursing facilities as required;
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • CPR certified
  • First Aid Certification
  • Certified Medication Technician under state rules as applicable to be able to assist or pass medications in a residential senior living community.
