Position Summary
  • Assist District Production Manager and Engineers with technical aspects of well work, artificial lift, chemical programs, failure and cost tracking, and surface facilities design and construction.
    • Monitor/optimize base production while performing production duties associated with new development drilling.
  • Supervise monitoring of well performance/production surveillance with P2, ARIES, XSPOC, SCADACORE, Etc. and optimize production and artificial lift systems (Sucker Rod Lift and ESP).
    • Work with other engineering disciplines (i.e. reservoir, etc.) to evaluate well performance and recommend optimization measures.
  • Identify and design workover and recompletion (refrac) candidates. Select vendors, develop cost estimates, and coordinate with field supervisors to supervise work (including occasional on-site supervision).
  • Assist in reviewing operating costs, LOE statements, and provide recommendations for cost control and reduction.
    • Verify and process vendor invoices within the Open Invoice platform.
    • Assist with planning and compiling operating expense budget.
  • Assist with well and facility regulatory work as needed.
    • Specific knowledge of NDIC rules and regulations is a plus.
  • Sizing and specifying of basic production surface facilities (tanks, processing vessels, measurement, instrumentation, etc.).
  • Ensure contract personnel are observing all safety/environmental rules and regulations.
Required Skills
  • Must be punctual, excellent communication/presentation skills, self- motivated, proactive, and safety conscious.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve performance goals set by the company.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Positive attitude, strong initiative, and ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficiency with P2 Merrick, ARIES, XSPOC, Rodstar/XBAL, Wellview/Siteview, Open Invoice, Etc. is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to various wellsites/facilities and occasionally supervise operations as needed.
    • Able to work in inclement weather conditions.
    • Willing to travel for short trips to Dallas corporate office on intermittent basis
    • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Willingness to relocate to District Office location in Minot, ND
  • Capable of preparing AFE’s for artificial lift installation, facility construction, and workover operations.
  • Ability to work within an integrated team including field operations staff and district personnel.
  • Cost conscious with ability to provide recommendations for lowering overall lease operating expense.
  • HSSE oriented with emphasis on adhering to all company policies and procedures.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years production engineering experience with an E&P Company.
    • Experience should have an emphasis on production engineering and operations
    • Downhole workover experience with in depth knowledge of ESP and SRL systems is a plus.
    • Less experience will be considered if specific to Bakken/Three Forks.
  • A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering required (Petroleum Engineering preferred)
  • Experience planning for and/or operating in H2S environments is a plus.
