Hunter Industries is Hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer- Plastic Injection Molding Near San Marcos, CA

About This RoleThe Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for identification and implementation of manufacturing processes, procedures, and projects focused on initial manufacturing launch, minimizing product cost, improving product quality, and maintaining product availability for assigned product lines. Manages projects across multiple departments that are aligned with department strategic objectives.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks
  • Responsible for the judicious resolution of manufacturing issues, for assigned product lines, that affect product quality, product cost, efficiency, or availability.
  • Performs and coordinates required process and sustaining engineering support necessary to contain and correct manufacturing production problems that impact ability to produce at desired build plan and required operational efficiencies.
  • Acts as the key facilitator between the Mexico Plant, San Marcos engineering and Supply Chain team to approve new materials and suppliers for cost down initiatives and alternate vendor approvals.
  • Creates and facilitates the development of all manufacturing related documentation, as well as coordinates production reports that define key metrics and outline current activities.
  • Uses lean manufacturing practices and six sigma methodology to evaluate and improve assembly line performance per established key performance indicators.
  • Takes leadership on implementing improvement projects by ensuring justification and that the project is on schedule and within budget.
  • Provides manufacturing engineering support for complete integration of new products into full production per Dispensing Dynamics NPDI process. Provides focus on delivering a repeatable process with high quality yield. Supports the concurrent engineering effort on behalf of manufacturing as a member of the new product development team.
  • Coordinates with Mexico’s Manufacturing to maintain updated capacity models for both injection molds and assembly equipment for assigned product lines. Works with Mexico’s Operations and NPDI team to support capital requests as required to ensure timely completion of equipment to meet forecasted production. Provide capital requirements for annual budgeting process.
  • Coordinates with project engineering the implementation and tracking of engineering change orders with the Tijuana Manufacturing operation.
  • Manages other critical projects/assignments as required.
  • Serves as a department representative on various company committees, including material review board, change order process and corrective action reviews.
  • Provides onsite support for Dispensing Dynamics manufacturing site in Tijuana Mexico as needed.
Education/Training Required And Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience Required And Preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in an engineering position of a manufacturing organization.
  • Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, LEAN Manufacturing & Six-Sigma methodology techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work within timelines.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Must be able to travel and work flexible hours, if required.
  • Experience with assembly of injection molded plastic components. Knowledge of QFD, SPC, FMEA, DOE and process capability studies. Experience with irrigation products or industry. Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma preferred.

The salary for this opportunity ranges from $90,540 to $118,285
The Company complies with all federal/local/state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
