Job Objective: Provide age-appropriate developmental concepts that educate youth and adults on various health-related topics within the Youth Bureau system and the Huntington community.
Job Responsibilities: Facilitate Prevention programs on topics including substance abuse and other health-related issues for youth, adolescents, and college level students throughout the Township of Huntington. Work cooperatively with staff of other departments and agencies including the Long Island Prevention Resource Center and Suffolk County Department of Health Services to enhance comprehensive services for youth and the community. Develop and implement presentations on various health-related topics as needed. Facilitate OASAS certified evidence-based model programs for youth in grades K-12. Coordinate agency outreach to local schools, agencies, and community events. Complete and submit monthly statistical data reports and management plans to New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services. Design, format, and edit print resources to promote awareness of the Counseling Center. Research and maintain current knowledge of drug trends and local related issues. Provide all other job-related activities at the discretion of the Program Director.
Basic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Health Education, Human Services, or other related field. Master’s level degrees will be preferred. Knowledge/experience with substance abuse education is greatly preferred. Availability Monday through Friday, and may include occasional evenings.
Critical Skills/Expertise: Must be creative, flexible, innovative, and be able to ensure that curriculum and materials remain up-to-date and age-appropriate. Ability to master technical material quickly. Professional presentation of self and representation of agency.
