Huntsman is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas . This position will report to Manager, Technical.

Position Summary

Huntsman’s Performance Products Division is now searching for a new Mechanical Project Engineer who will be is responsible for design engineering and project management support for capital and expense projects. This role is an active, full time member of the project team located in Conroe, Texas.

As the Mechanical Project Engineer, you will:

  • Be responsible for project implementation which includes project management, field inspection, problem solving, start-up assistance, coordination, cost control, and scheduling. Project Champion for plant reliability renewal projects from idea phase through construction commissioning.
  • Develop scope of work details on a variety projects often working with the Business Center, Plant and other Huntsman facilities to conduct economic project evaluations of projects as well as present those projects through management approval and implementation.
  • Perform equipment design calculations and providing equipment specifications for new equipment procurement and installations.
  • Act as senior engineering consultant to plant. Serve as management-level technical advisor to plant management team. Actively seeks opportunities to add experience and logical approach to problem solving, goal setting, plant improvement, etc. Uses technical knowledge and experience to guide, coach, and instruct other plant engineers, both in and out of group.
  • Provide technical support for Process Safety requirements as needed including participating in PHA studies, resolving PSM open action items, executing Management of Change (MOC) requests. 
  • Provide written instructions concerning the maintenance and proper operation of project related mechanical equipment in line with the plants maintenance lifecycle management philosophies including developing cost-effective spare parts list for new equipment.
  • Keep current with technical developments in his/her respective field through outside study, trade journals, technical societies, and seminars.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of specific experience in a similar role.
  • 3 years of Project Management experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
  • Good oral and written skills are a necessity.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to new instructions and/or dynamic organizational priorities is critical for job success.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of fixed and rotation equipment in a refinery/chemical plant setting.
  • Professional Engineering License.
