Reports To : Vice President of Patient Services

Status : 80 hours EXEMPT per two week pay period

Shift : 7:00 am - 3:00 pm and on-call

Job Schedule : Full time

Weekly Hours : 40 hours

Job Summary

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist performs anesthesia management of patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic or therapeutic procedures and airway management or cardiopulmonary resuscitation in collaboration with physicians and other Licensed Professionals. Administers epidural medication for pain management as ordered by the physician. Performs only those services allowed by South Dakota law. There will be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist immediately available on site from 0700-1500 M-F and on-call 24 hours a day.

Qualifications: (Minimum Education and Experience)

  • Graduate of an accredited registered nurse anesthetist program approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Licensed and currently registered as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the State of South Dakota and must have current ACLS, NRP and PALS certificates.
  • Physical demands necessitate frequent assistance of patients which requires knowledge and proper use of body mechanics in all phases of patient care.
  • Constantly requires a high degree of social sensitivity and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, groups of clients, and health care personnel within and outside the agency. Proceeds on own initiative, exercises independent judgement. Demonstrates leadership abilities; possesses good oral and written communication skills.

Physical Aspects of the Job/Essential Physical Demands :

  • Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, feeling, talking, hearing and moderate lifting (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly) of clients and equipment.
  • Risks exposure to communicable or infectious disease and injury from performance of assigned duties.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change) and to atmospheric conditions (one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation).
