The Assistant Operations Manager will assist in overseeing the rooms areas within the hotel. While their main focus will be assisting the Front Desk Manager their further responsibilities may include scheduling, forecasting and training, team development, and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as all operating procedures. They will have oversight of the front office staff, cash control for agents, staffing needs, and guest services. Additional responsibilities may include training, staff development and scheduling. The Assistant Operations Manager will promote an atmosphere that ensures customer and colleague satisfaction.This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively provide service to guests, other departments and colleagues.
This role will require a true desire to be a go-getter and that of someone willing to work closely with leaders. They will need excellent time management and the ability to multi-task between multiple functions of the Operations of the Front Desk & Housekeeping departments.
Duties include:
  • Fulfill the short and long term planning and the management of the Front Office with occasionally stepping into Housekeeping
  • Support the budget, marketing plans and objectives within those approved plans
  • On the floor managerial presence
  • Support the development of colleagues
  • Support the hiring process alongside of the Operations Manager
  • Coordinate front office and food and beverage operations with other hotel departments to ensure efficient guest service
  • Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality
  • Support procedures to increase guest and colleague satisfaction
  • Exercise quality control for both the front office and food and beverage departments
  • Maintaining Hyatt standards of service and ensure their implementation
  • Performing daily walk-through to ensure full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt Corporate standards
  • Coach and counsel colleagues to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
  • Able to understand the concept and work in a variety of functions, across multiple areas of the hotel
  • Assist in other departments as needed – including oversight of Housekeeping staff

Qualifications
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • 1-2 years of progressive hotel Rooms/F&B Management experience
  • Service-oriented style with professional presentation skills
  • Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service, and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
