Hygea Healthcare is Hiring a Medical Director, Addictions - Middle River Near Baltimore, MD

Hygea Healthcare is hiring for a part-time Medical Director for our 50 bed substance abuse detox facility in Middle River, Maryland. We are looking for a provider who is interested in growing with us from this part time opportunity to an eventual full time position within our Administrative team. Initially this provider will be responsible for setting up systems and processes for our new facility and for completing all admissions assessments and evaluations, as well as hiring our team of NPs and PAs.
Job SummaryThe Medical Director leads, manages, and supervises the medical team and assures the highest quality of patient care at the lowest cost, including comprehensive evaluations, patient consultations, and medication management (including detox protocols) to an ethnically diverse patient population.
Essential Job Functions
  • Maintains and enhances the highest standards of health care delivery to all patients.
  • Ensures that all health care services are provided in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, orienting, monitoring, directing, coaching, and evaluating medical staff.
  • Reviews relevant patient complaints and satisfaction surveys and responds as necessary.
  • Provides technical advice to the Executive Director on matters that require medical judgment.
  • Provides and arranges after-hours call coverage in coordination with other medical staff ensuring continuity of patient care.
  • Oversees, monitors and updates Hygea Healthcare medical policies and procedures.
  • Supervises the development, implementation and operation of a quality assurance program as it relates to patient care and participates in quality improvement processes.
  • Provides consultation and peer review for all medical staff at the facility.
  • Assists in the development of data, statistics and performance outcomes and measures, and compliance reporting.
  • Addresses risk management and patient grievances relating to clinical care.
  • Assists the Executive Director in determining the need and arranging for continuing education opportunities for medical personnel.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings.
  • Upholds personal and professional ethics and values, taking into account the values of the organization and respecting the culture, beliefs and abilities of individuals.
  • Must be an effective and articulate communicator.
  • Demonstrates concern for meeting internal and external customers' needs in a manner that provides satisfaction for the customer within the resources available.
  • Must be able to work in collaboration with other health professionals and leaders from other disciplines.
  • Interacts with others in a way that gives them confidence in one's motives and representations and those of the organization. Is seen as direct and truthful; keeps confidences, promises and commitments.

Education And Experience
  • Unrestricted MD or DO in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine and licensed by the state in which the facility resides.
  • Valid DEA Certification.
  • Current and unrestricted NPI number
  • Current and updated CAQH profile, to be attested (confirmed) every 120 days.
  • Minimum of 10 years practice and 3-5 years in a leadership position.
  • Experience in addiction medicine and a residential behavioral healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Commitment to delivery of high-quality, cost-effective health care.
  • Ability to work as a member of a management team.
  • A high energy level and the ability to follow projects through to completion.
  • Ability to build consensus and work in a team setting.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with medical staff, patients, clinical support and administrative staff.
  • Proficiency in use of electronic health records.
  • Requires computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
