Hygea Healthcare is hiring for a part-time Nurse Practitioner for our 50 bed substance abuse treatment facility in Middle River, Maryland.
Job Summary
Working under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner assumes total nursing care of specific patients, including diagnosis, treatment and consultations. Follows established nursing standards, procedures, and practices and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff. The NP will conduct physicals, order tests and serve as a patient's primary healthcare provider. Responsible for prescribing medications and managing detox protocols for patients.
Essential Job Functions
Performs Initial History and Physical Examination and intermittent medical assessments as warranted.
Recommends and/or orders medical interventions such as appropriate lab work, diagnostic imaging studies (X-rays, CT Scan, MRI, etc).
Orders and manages medications and protocols for detoxification.
Documents appropriately in the medical record. Completes required documentation in a timely manner such as admission assessment, history and physical examinations, intermittent assessments and recommendations, and patient discharge summaries.
Assesses the physiological and behavioral health status and assesses the psychosocial health status of patients.
Determines mobility needs to assist with fall prevention and the determination of high risk for compromised skin integrity.
Provide on-call coverage on a rotation for evenings, weekends and holidays.
Completes initial assessments and develops the plan of care. Assists in the development of treatment plans and nursing care plans for patients.
Interacts with patients, counseling staff, clinical dietician, psychiatrist, medical director, other nurse practitioner(s), and other members of the interdisciplinary care team in such a manner that promotes a high standard of care.
Functions under the direct supervision of the Medical Director in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care, Standards of Practice for Registered Professional Nurse as directed by the State Board of Nursing, Nursing Service and Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Nursing, current state license and registration as a nurse practitioner.
Valid DEA Certification.
Current and unrestricted NPI number
Current and updated CAQH profile, to be attested (confirmed) every 120 days.
Minimum of 5 years practice; 3 years experience in substance abuse preferred.
Knowledge of medical health care diagnoses and terminology, detoxification procedures, the diseases of addiction and substance abuse disorders, co-occurring disorders, DSM Criteria and terminology.
Commitment to delivery of high-quality, cost-effective health care.
Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with medical staff, patients, clinical support and administrative staff.
Proficiency in use of electronic health records.
Requires computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
