Purpose
  • Employee primarily works independently and exercises discretion on recording, analyzing, and reporting of parts sales and cost information. Occasionally supervision is direct and specific. Refers questionable or unusual items to manager.
  • Provide professional expertise and advanced knowledge to function as a manager for the Parts Accounting Department, which includes parts sales and cost, parts profit disallowance, warranty and recall campaign accounting, vehicle margin.
  • Interface with various internal and external constituents and interacts with company employees at all levels in providing and obtaining information required to track company performance and publish parts financial statements.
  • Encompass technical expertise in accounting, employee relations and management skills to successfully manage department and interface with subordinates, other company employees, auditors, dealers, vendors, affiliates, and related financial institutions.
  • Use independent judgment to evaluate, recommend, and document suggested system improvements to facilitate proper internal controls and/or efficient operations. Create system business requirements related to vehicle/parts system modification and new system projects. Comfortable with large data gathering and analysis.
Major Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review and post monthly journal entries and participate in month-end closing activities including SAP system transaction processing, reconciliations of details records to the general ledger, and preparation of internal and external financial schedules including the preparation of internal and Korean financial statements for Parts Accounting.
  • Participate in the timely preparation and accuracy of parts, cost, and margin related reports, manage parts and recall campaign accounting functions, including planning, organizing, training and evaluating the work of all personnel reporting to the position. Provide meaningful information and analysis for management decision purposes.
  • Report and analyze cost variances related to parts shipments received from vendors, including domestic suppliers for drop shipments, work with parts department for resolution to variances. Monitor the dual standard cost for parts as required from time to time. Provide feedback to parts department of any deviation, work with parts department and affiliate for any inventory purchase variance.
  • Present monthly operating results to Operations After Sales / BlueLink Department managers.
  • Ensure monthly account reconciliations are complete in a timely manner; identify issues and ensure discrepancies are resolved timely.
  • Design and implement procedures for parts cost accounting, including the conversion of present system in AS400. Monitor standard costs for parts as required from time to time. Report and analyze cost variances related to parts cost received from vendors for timely resolution.
Major Responsibilities (continued)
  • Establish procedures for processing recall campaign, warranty/goodwill claims; monitor such claims as received and coordinate dealer reimbursement from HMA and HMA reimbursement from factories.
  • Responsible for yearly IFRS15 Revenue research and analysis. Establishes POB pricing guidance and implementation. Monitors POB expense monthly recording.
  • Manage and control parts accounts receivable interface to SAP system. Research any system mis-posting or discrepancy. Ensure all other interfaces from AS400 for vendors payment are accurate and reconciled monthly.
  • Be able to work with large (1M records) amount of data for analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Design system enhancements to accommodate both short-term and long-term corporate objectives, improve processing, accuracy, and information relevancy. Participate in user acceptance testing, coordinate testing and implementation of system enhancements. Ensure policies and procedures for parts accounting activities on projects.
  • Support K SOX and KPMG quarterly reviews and annual audit by providing PBC schedules, flux analysis and audit information requests in accordance with reporting timetables. Establish and maintain consistency among PBC reporting schedules over varying audit periods; identify and streamline data schedules eliminating unnecessary data elements.
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and yearly audits and reconciliation of affiliate transactions.
  • Assist in the operation of the Finance Department records retention and disposition program.
  • Perform other related duties as opportunities arise.
Authority
  • May manage direct reports as needed (allocate workload and responsibilities, provide guidance and direction, support professional development and growth).
  • May oversee direct reports - hire, evaluate and develop employees as needed.
  • Approve and post monthly journal entries to record and adjust for accounting transactions.
  • Approve ITSM request to correct system issues and/or performance improvements as required.
Education~ Bachelor’s degree preferred
~ Master’s degree a plus
~ Must be a high school graduate
Related Experience
  • Six or more years of experience of which at least four years of directly related experience in accounting.
  • Two to three years of supervisory experience is desired.
Skills/Knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of general and cost accounting methods and principles, including data processing applications (particularly perpetual inventory systems and Microsoft Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to formally present financial information relative to vehicle inventory and cost of sales.
  • Possess considerable working knowledge of Excel spreadsheet program and utilize software to automate reporting requirements.
  • AS400 and SAP system expertise in areas to include sales & distribution, vehicle costing and warranty.
  • Knowledge of accounting and standard cost accounting principles and methods.
  • Working knowledge of QMF query language and Access database methods.
  • Ability to work with large amount of data and understand system interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think critically.
  • Knowledge of SAP CO/PA and FI strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act / SOX helpful.
