Position Summary

Oversee Quality Team Members to ensure proper administration of quality policies, processes, programs and procedures. Communicate product quality and quality problems. Assist in the development of and provide training on standardized quality work instructions and procedures including equipment operation and transmission reprocessing. Promotes positive Team relations and leads by example.

Essential Functions

Corporate:

  • Adheres to the Hyundai Transys Georgia Powertrain (HTGP) policies and procedures
  • Learns, demonstrates and upholds HTGP Core Values
  • Supports and enforces compliance to all HTGP Certification standards; Management System (IATF16949), Environmental (ISO 14001) and Health and Safety (ISO 45001) policies and procedures
  • Treats all HTGP team members with respect and professional courtesy
  • Always strives to maintain a positive work environment
  • Performs additional assignments/ duties as required by management

EHS:

  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
  • Complies with all safety policies and 5S clean philosophy to maintain a safe, clean working environment
  • Consistently meets company safety goals

Technical:

  • Analyze data of gear profile result and CMM measurement
  • Analyze gear heat treatment destructive test result
  • Reviews and verifies quality inspection checks/audits, records and reports for discrepancies and corrects issues found
  • Participates in safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets and with other department leadership on improvement activities
  • Generates and understands daily reports as directed and creates SOPs for product inspections
  • Establishes and maintains plan for minor daily/weekly PM in QC lab Area
  • Possesses or develops skills to perform analyses on gear features to determine quality grade
  • Sets up and maintains SPC systems for quality measuring equipment
  • Works with Supplier Quality Management to perform effective defect analysis processes.
  • Works closely with Quality and Production teams to resolve quality issues, problematic parts, materials, tooling and processes that may be adversely affecting quality and notifies department leadership as appropriate
  • Performs rapid root cause analysis of inline issues and provides suggestions for prevention
  • Assists with the completion of Non-conforming tags and leads the containment of suspect material from production parts
  • Implements repair/containment procedures for repetitive quality defects and performs repair, reassembly and test on parts
  • Recommends improvements of process or equipment or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Supports all IATF16949 activities, internal and external audits, and the PPAP or ISIR processes
  • Assists Quality Management to implement the quality management system

Leadership:

  • Leads internal corrective action activities to resolve customer complaints and return transmission issues in accordance to HTGP CAR process.
  • Facilitates quality meetings as needed.
  • Promotes a positive workplace 
  • Develops, maintains and trains all Quality Team Members and Team Leader in use of quality measuring equipment. 
  • Develops, maintains and trains on quality process to meet internal and external customer requirements. 
  • Develops Quality Machining Team through OJT, process training and skill development. 

Education

  • High School/GED
  • 4 Year Degree or comparable background of work related experience

Reporting

  • Reports to: Department Manager or designee
  • Direct Reports: 2 - 3

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • 4 - 6 years Quality and/or automotive related job experience preferred

  • MODUS or similar CMM software a plus

Other Information

  • Position may require domestic or international travel. 
  • Flexibility in working hours to include nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • OT required as needed.
