Position: Security Analyst

Location: Indianapolis, IN 46204, USA (Hybrid)

Duration: 1-Year Contract (Contract to Fulltime)

Purpose of Position: This role within the Information Technology Division of the Department of Child Services is vital for auditing and monitoring systems that contain confidential information. As an information security analyst, your primary responsibility is to safeguard information system assets and protect them from unauthorized access or destruction. The role typically reports to the Information Security Manager or higher-level staff.

Essential Functions:

• Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly update the supervisor on the status of information security and confidentiality, highlighting any problem areas and recommending enhancements.
• User Interface: Engage with users to understand their security needs, implement necessary procedures, and provide training and assessments.
• Audit Assistance: Prepare for security audits (e.g., IRS, SSA, OCSE, FBI, SBOA), address findings, and create relevant reports.
• Policy Development: Create information security policies and standards that comply with state and federal requirements (e.g., IRS, SSA, OCSE, FBI, IOT) and guidelines (e.g., NIST SP 800-53).
• SOP Development: Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for implementing security policies.
• System Safeguards: Recommend and implement appropriate security measures during the development of new IT systems and for legacy systems.
• Resource Utilization: Ensure optimal use of computer hardware and software features for securing automated systems and data.
• Software Procedures: Develop and implement procedures for using information security management software, and propose enhancements.
• Periodic Audits: Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with security policies and standards and recommend enhancements as needed.
• Legislative Awareness: Stay updated on laws and changes affecting privacy standards, network security, cloud security, remote access, and physical security.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to new or other staff members as needed.
• Additional Duties: Perform related tasks and assist with other assignments as required.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Information Security Management: Thorough knowledge of tools, policies, and standards for information security practices (3-5 years experience required).
• Network Administration: 1-3 years of network administration experience (required).
• Security Standards Development: Ability to develop and maintain information security standards (required).
• Complex Computer Logic: Ability to understand and apply complex computer logic (required).
• Software Vulnerabilities: Thorough knowledge of software vulnerabilities, scanning tools, and remediation techniques is required.
• Collaboration: ability to work effectively with a range of IT professionals, including system administrators, technical support, application developers, end users, and management (required).
• Cybersecurity Frameworks: Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, SOC 2, CIS, Cob it) is required.
• Compliance and Auditing: Experience in computer security compliance and auditing, including IRS and SSA compliance (required).
• HIPAA Experience: Knowledge of HIPAA regulations (required).
• Microsoft Office: A basic understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Security Certification: Certification such as CISSP or CRISC (preferred).
• Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
• Education: degree in information security or technology (preferred).
