Your Role and ResponsibilitiesIBM is looking for a highly motivated individual interested in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of software releases through the development lifecycle. This individual works closely with cross-functional teams from IBM, software partners and the client to plan, schedule, and execute releases, ensuring that all system components are properly integrated, tested and documented.
The Release Manager is quality focused, has a strong understanding of DevOps practices, managing releases across multiple SaaS components, version control systems, Jira, and deployment processes as well as a detailed understanding of government compliance and security requirements including FedRAMP.
Key responsibilities include managing release schedules, facilitating communications between development, shared services operations team, stakeholder teams, overseeing change management processes and maintaining release documentation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and resolve conflicts on a complex program with a demanding and aggressive timeline.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Plan and manage release schedules and milestones
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks and remove obstacles to release. Facilitate releases by coordinating with multiple cross-functional teams
  • Deep knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
  • Delivering releases in a hybrid agile model with sprints followed by traditional waterfall Systems Integration Test (SIT) and User Acceptance Test (UAT) testing cycles
  • Managing and coordinating releases across multiple cloud-based SaaS configurable solutions
  • Review and maintain adherence to established processes and standards, highlight gaps and facilitate mitigation
  • Manage mitigation/remediation plans and report in proper channel
  • Communicate plans and status and escalate issues as required
Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise
  • At least 6 years of IT Release Management experience in a Federal Government IT application development environment
  • Experience with managing software releases for a FedRAMP authorized solution
  • Expertise in Release Management, Project Management and/or Product Management including driving and overseeing scrum of scrums, and effectively planning releases for large-scale system integrations
  • Familiarity with various project management tools and proven experience working with AWS
  • Experience with implementation and reviewing Agile/hybrid processes, maintaining JIRA dashboards and backlogs, Epics, User Stories
  • Ability to improve and maintain new and existing processes
  • A credible, results-driven professional that is willing to go the extra mile. Takes ownership to deliver quality, with a high level of flexibility and preparedness to get the job done
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
