We are seeking a motivated Senior Scientist to join our team at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai . The individual should work independently to design, execute, and interpret molecular and cellular assays in a fast-paced academic and entrepreneurial environment .

The ideal candidate is expected to support genomic/proteomic solutions, through execution of existing protocols, and development of new state of the art methods, using established molecular biology techniques and by exploring novel solutions. This role will have a significant impact on identification of novel molecular targets that can be later developed into new treatments for patients with inflammatory skin diseases.

Responsibilities

• Execute and implement complex molecular biology protocols to characterize skin and blood samples.
• Execute assay and reagent troubleshooting, optimization, validation of experiments and appropriate documentation to support procedures and protocols, including data capture, forms, logbooks, and inventory batch records.
• Keep detailed records of work and testing
• Supervise method and instrument qualification and validation.
• Summarize Methods for publications, and assist with publications for scientific journals.
• Effectively plan and ensure project deliverables and timelines are met.
• Train and mentor Research Associates to implement new technologies

Qualifications

• A minimum of PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (or additional equivalent experience) or a Master in Biology Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
• In-depth knowledge and strong hands-on experience of qualitative Real-timePCR, multiplex PCR, DNA, RNA, and protein isolation, molecular probe techniques; primer design and PCR optimization as well as pre amplification protocols.
• Minimum of 3 years experience with NGS, spanning DNA extraction through sample analysis.
• Ability to multitask and switch projects as priorities change in the lab
