Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to expectant mothers during the labor and delivery process. Your compassion, expertise, and attention to detail will contribute to ensuring a safe and comfortable birthing experience for both mother and baby.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the progress of labor, including fetal heart rate, contraction patterns, and maternal vital signs.
- Assist with pain management techniques and comfort measures for laboring mothers.
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Prepare mothers for delivery procedures and provide emotional support throughout the birthing process.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized birth plans.
- Perform assessments of newborns following delivery and provide initial care as needed.
- Educate new mothers on postpartum care, breastfeeding techniques, and newborn care basics.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Stay current on best practices in labor and delivery nursing and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Experience:
- Previous experience in labor and delivery nursing is preferred.
- Familiarity with working in a hospital setting or ambulatory surgery center.
- Knowledge of critical care transport for high-risk deliveries.
- Experience in acute pain management for laboring women.
- Exposure to eClinicalWorks or similar electronic health record systems is beneficial.
- Background in primary care or health coaching is advantageous.
- Experience in memory care or related fields is a plus.
- Willingness to engage in travel nursing assignments if required.
