Responsibilities

• Preparing, recording, reporting and/or analyzing complex internal/external financial information in compliance with applicable accounting guidance, regulatory requirements, rating agency guidelines, and/or taxing jurisdictions, within an appropriate control environment.
• Prepare and analyze the Companies income tax accruals and forecasts.
• Preparation of federal and various state income tax returns.
• Preparation of various income tax adjustments.
• Preparation of STAT and GAAP tax notes for financial statements.
• Analysis of the IRC as it relates to the preparation of tax returns.
• Providing support to others.

Some overtime and weekends may be required. This position has the possibility of remote work two days a week after initial training period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (or equivalent) degree with a focus in Accounting.
• CPA designation preferred.
• At least three years of progressively increasing responsibilities in the accounting field, in the insurance accounting field (preferred), or equivalent experience in a business environment, including application of SAP and/or GAAP accounting treatments, or equivalent public accounting experience.
• Demonstrate leadership skills including the ability to lead projects.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, identify issues, and recommend sound business solutions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong understanding of computer applications including Excel and Word.
• Broad understanding of financial systems: PeopleSoft Financials (preferred), or equivalent systems.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, as needed.
