The IT Project Manager III is a senior project leader in IT who manages strategic, enterprise-wide, technology investments. They are responsible for all facets of the project: scope, cost, schedule, communications, risk management, stakeholder management, and achievement of expected business outcomes. As a member of the Planning & Delivery Office (PDO), they provide leadership to the practice and play an integral part in improving the practice, as well as mentoring other project managers / workstream leads.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Manages cross-functional teams towards a common set of outcomes:

  • Plans and manages the team’s execution of tasks with a relentless focus on achievement of expected business outcomes.
  • Must be constantly planning the work and working the plan, display innovative solutions & options to solve the inevitable roadblocks which arise.
  • Leverages data when making decisions, gathers new information and insights to work through complex issues.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills across multiple levels – executive briefings, steering committees, team member working sessions, and crisp status reporting. 
  • Works closely with technical teams to develop and track release milestones and schedules. 
  • Product Management Mindset - listens carefully to stakeholders / users, understands their challenges, develops deep relationships with them, and delivers solutions that remove their obstacles.
  • Thrives in Complexity - unravels and organizes potentially incomplete, contradictory, or ambiguous information to effectively solve problems.
  • Detail Orientation - deeply enjoys digging into details, is meticulous in their activities and can efficiently organize and manage large or complex workloads using productivity tools.

Leverages and recommends project management principles and best practices to ensure the success of projects.

  • Effectively utilizes waterfall and Agile practices in a Hybrid approach – able to operate effectively with multiple Agile teams while maintaining a focus on the overall scope of the program / project.
  • Guides other team members on project management best practices and continues to expand mastery of his/her own. 
  • Coordinates project activities, identifies appropriate resources needed, and develops schedules to ensure timely completion of the project. 
  • Creates and executes project plans / Agile sprint planning and revises as appropriate to meet continuously changing needs and requirements.
  • Provides regular updates and progress reports to internal teams and stakeholders. 
  • Tracks key project milestones and adjusts project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customers. 
  • Understands, tracks, and communicates issues, risks, and action items in a timely manner. 
  • Assists with vendor management efforts and ensures agreements are met. 

Serves as partner and key point of contact for stakeholders to ensure success. 

  • Acts as point of escalation internally for all issues. 
  • Provides insight to key stakeholders and project sponsors through leadership of frequent steering committees and stakeholder relationship management. 
  • Facilitates decisions necessary for project delivery by communicating tough issues and keeping an independent opinion. 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Bachelor's degree from a college or university required with a major or emphasis in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum 7 years of relevant technology experience required. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager required. Previous lead or supervisory experience. 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred. Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and Insurance certification in one or more domain-specific areas (AINS, AIC, ARM, ect.) required within 1 year of hire.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of insurance is preferred but not required.
  • Must have a strategic orientation and be results driven.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams; be self-organizing and coach others on the same; understand both technical and business complexity.
  • Ability to understand technical specifications depicted in user stories, flowcharts, UML diagrams, etc; understand technical industry-related journals and DOI filings; understanding of basic system engineering, object-oriented design, information risk and security guidelines, and architecture standards. 
  • Proven outcome focused mindset and resiliency to change.
  • Proven ability to question status quo; troubleshoot and partner with others to identify course of resolutions.
  • Positive attitude and temperament to work with others in a team environment. Strong presentation and communication skills. 
  • Effective decision making skills. Strong user skills in MS Office applications, including MS Project and Visio. 
  • Demonstrated competency in Project Management processes, tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated competency in both waterfall and agile (SCRUM) SDLC’s. 
  • Knowledge of database concepts. Familiar with a variety of IT concepts, practices, tools, and procedures.

Program Specific Requirements:

In this role, you will be expected to manage the migration from legacy data systems to a modernized cloud data platform. Will work with all IT pillars as well as data consumers across various departments. Work with cross-functional Stakeholders to plan, schedule, develop and deploy migration efforts to Snowflake Data Warehouse. Shape and plan current year activities as well as next 3 years roadmap for the Data Warehouse and Snowflake implementation. Technology background, especially in a cloud-based architecture with a deep understanding of software development, passion for data and analytics. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently will sit, stand, walk, and bend during working hours. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Required to lift and carry relatively light materials. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing corrected to a normal range.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in an office environment and requires frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier and other standard office equipment.

COMPENSATION

The salary range listed for this position, $113,668.05 to $203,468.21, is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education. In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. We typically do not hire towards the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a substantial benefits package outlined below.
