Idaho Conservation Corps is Hiring a Field Leader Near Boise, ID

Opportunity OverviewJoin us at Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) as a Field Leader for the upcoming summer program based in Boise, ID. As an AmeriCorps Volunteer, you will lead and mentor conservation crews of young individuals, ages 16-18, on hands-on projects in public and private lands. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact, gain valuable skills, and contribute to the community.
Organization BackgroundFounded in 1984, Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing work training experiences for youth and young adults. NYC partners with various agencies and operates in multiple states, including Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California. The organization's programs emphasize leadership, personal growth, and success, aiming to equip participants with the skills needed for professional success and personal development.
Role DescriptionAs a Field Leader, you will oversee conservation crews, facilitate educational lessons, and ensure the completion of various projects. This role involves leadership, mentorship, and project management. Additionally, you will receive comprehensive training covering topics such as safety procedures, crew management, and tool use. This position offers an entry point into natural resource management, youth development, and outdoor education fields.

Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Current Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Outdoor experience and ability to adapt to living without modern conveniences

  • Desire to work collaboratively and make a positive impact
  • Experience or willingness to work with diverse populations
Hours And TrainingField Leaders are required to complete a 12-day training program and a minimum of 900 hours of service. The position involves an average of over 50 hours per week, including project work, education, and travel time. While schedules may vary, most crews work Monday through Friday, with weekends reserved for team activities and downtime.
