DESCRIPTION

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Database Services Team Lead to work in our Information Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls, Idaho facility with every other Friday off. Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.

You will report to the Manager of Application Development and Database Services. You will develop IT architecture (integrated process, applications, data, and technology) solutions to business problems according to the enterprise architecture direction and standards. Perform technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications.

Responsibilities Include:

    Coordinate with customers to develop specifications for new products and services. Research and recommend technology and information to improve the current systems and meet future mission needs.

    Lead the team in defined database administration and work management practices.

    Prioritize resource allocation according to team and department priorities. Maintain an appropriate balance of strategic planning and initiatives with the everyday work demands on the team.

    Coordinate with solutions architect and corresponding enterprise architect to help design, develop, analyze, and maintain overall system architecture, which may include cloud environments.

    Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies required to provide long-term enhancements to the reliability, performance, and functionality of system architecture.

    Responsible for technical planning, architecture development, and modification of specifications that meet performance, scalability, reliability, security, and other needs. Utilize engineering knowledge and principles to test and deploy systems into production and to aid in the analysis, development, and assessment of INL systems.

    Provide support to technical resources during execution of projects.

    Provide technical direction and mentoring for junior staff to increase their skills. Train members of IT in the use of standards and tools within the established architecture.

    Document best practices of software engineering and software-defined services. Design, develop, install, patch and upgrade supporting products; establish policies and document procedures to maintain them.

    Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor of Science degree in technical field including Computer Science, Computer Information Systems Administration, Data Analytics, Database Design and 8 years' relevant experience or Advanced Degree plus 6 years' experience, or 16 years' relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

    Demonstrated experience with database design, and administration for SQL Server and Oracle databases.

    An understanding of the Linux and Windows operating system and administration.

    Experience with cloud database solutions such as SQL on Azure or Oracle's OCI

    This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

    Experience with automated build and deployment tools such as Azure Dev Ops.
    Experience with source control tools such as Git and work management tools like Jira.
    Understanding of various scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Python, etc.
    Experience leading projects or technical teams

Job Information:

    Salary Grade: LP0400 - 230 ($124,368 - $211,596)

    TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
