Idaho National Laboratory is Hiring a Nuclear Facility Technician - Level 2 Near Idaho Falls, ID

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Facility Technician - Level 2 to work in our Operations department. Our team located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex.
INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel design and fabrication through post irradiation analysis.
Responsibilities IncludeNuclear Research Facility Technicians perform a variety of work activities including tracking, packaging, transferring, receiving, storing/handling fissionable materials, handling/treating radioactive and hazardous material. Main functions of the position are:
Function
  • Operate and perform some maintenance on facility equipment and systems. Facility equipment and systems may include overhead handling systems, remote handling equipment, shielded casks, facility utilities, operational support systems, gloveboxes and testing equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of facility operation, equipment performance, production, treatment and experimental data in logbooks, log-sheets, or other data packages as needed by facility programs and administrative procedures.
  • As requested, review and provide operational input to proposed procedures, procedural revisions and proposed modifications to facility equipment/systems.
  • Applies standard procedures for assigned tasks and known processes, such as experiments requiring minor modification and operating test equipment.
  • Clearly understand and recognize the use of Human Performance Improvement (HPI) tools in self and others with the knowledge of how and when to apply tools to a specific work area.
Minimum Requirements
  • Level 2: HS Diploma and 4 years relevant experience or associate degree and two years relevant experience or ESTEC graduate with 2 years relevant experience or Qualified Level I nuclear facility technician with demonstrated abilities/qualifications to perform level II work. .
  • Positions can require inclusion in the Human Reliability Performance (HRP) of which will require additional scrutiny by the HRP Program administrators.
  • Position requires working sliding 4x12 shifts, including nights and weekends. In some facilities, shifts will convert to a 24x7 shift to support mission work in the future.
  • You will comply with DOE conduct of operations requirements and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles.
  • Must be willing and have the ability to complete, as well as maintain, Rad Worker II qualifications. Donning and doffing of anti-contamination clothing and wearing a full-face respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information
  • The pay range for this position is Level 2 - $29.46/hour - $48.61/hour. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
