The dispatch team staffs the Communication Center 24/7/365 with a variety of responsibilities that are vital to campus operations and safety and are an integral part of the University's ability to comply with the Federal Clery Act. This position: Acts as the first point of contact for the Boise State University (BSU) community looking for Police or BSU Security/Parking and Facilities assistance with a wide range of matters. Serves as a communication link between citizens and the campus police force assigned to BSU and the surrounding community. These communications can range from simple messaging to emergency notifications to the entire campus community. Reads and interprets crime reports from various sources. Monitors and coordinates the work of law enforcement personnel engaged in general or specialized law enforcement activities. Provides time-sensitive assistance to officers, detectives, other staff, and administration, along with explaining departmental policies and procedures to both the public and employees. Requires a considerable amount of independent judgment under general supervision. Essential Functions Receives and addresses all emergency and non-emergency phone calls, emails, Rave Guardian, and Silent Witness notifications and walk-in requests for service coming into the campus substation. Dispatches appropriate emergency personnel, security, parking, housing, and facilities personnel as well as contractors as required using established policies and procedures and making immediate self- directed decisions in emergency situations. Coordinates emergency calls and relays information and assistance requests involving law enforcement and public safety agencies.
