Senior Hardware Quality Engineer (JoinOCI-NDC) at Oracle in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Job Description Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on driving vendor quality and yield improvement for network components. We are looking for engineers with a diverse background covering numerous areas of network hardware engineering including cabling, low level device performance, thermals, etc. You will work with both internal and external teams to track and understand failure patterns and drive improvements both within OCI and also with our hardware suppliers. As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet. Lead the tracking of all hardware failures within the OCI global network and find failure patterns. Drive resolution of those patterns via software, hardware and process changes. Organizes project technical milestones & supporting tasks. May work as project technical lead, coordinating effort of two or three engineers. Advises project/program manager and coordinates with immediate and skip-level leadership. Collaborates across teams within same org (same VP) and outside of org. Serve as technical SME in cross-functional activities. Has technical responsibility for complex project(s), including project requirements, specifications (where applicable), and documentation. Responsible for decomposing high-level architectures into detailed designs. Ability to lead multiple engineers in developing network solutions consisting of multiple modules with complex interactions; Work with supporting service teams to ensure solutions are properly supported by monitoring and automation systems. Serves specialized escalation for all physical design and cabling issues within networking. Serves as principal point of contact for driving systematic resolution of complex network quality issues. Understand both active and passive network hardware and common failure patterns. Provides a broad set of guidance to technical and senior technical members of staff. Interprets input from leaders (technical and managers) and provides focused development to junior member. Able to carry out technical coaching sessions, and helps junior members develop skills.
