What do Substation Technicians do for us? Idaho Power is looking to hire two qualified Station Technicians at the Apprentice or Journeyman level - one on a Control Crew and another one a Combo Crew. A Combo Crew is generally made up of both Control and Structural Technicians. A description for each discipline is listed below: Control The Station Control Technician or Apprentice installs, commissions, and troubleshoots substation and power plant control systems, including system monitoring equipment, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Remedial Action Schemes (RAS), and protective relay, control, and communication systems. Structural The Station Structural Technician or installs substation and power plant ground grids, foundations, structures, breakers, transformers, buss, high and low-voltage cables, and other apparatus. REQUIRED SKILLS Knowledge of: OSHA regulations, chemical safety, electrical safety related work practices Electrical circuits, electronics, algebra, and trigonometry Utility system practices and utility business practices Substation and power plant construction, operations, maintenance, and safety practices Safe operation of hand and power tools used in the electrical trades AC and DC circuit theory, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and other drawings such as station construction prints with electrical, mechanical, and structural details Ba To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
