Quality Control & Final Inspection Specialist

Department: Quality Assurance

Reports To: Service Manager

Salary: $30/hr. D.O.E.

Job Summary

The Quality Control & Final Inspection Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all truck upfitting work meets the company’s quality standards and specifications. This role involves inspecting completed upfitting work on trucks, identifying any defects or issues, and coordinating with production teams to ensure that corrective actions are taken. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection and Testing

  • Conduct thorough inspections of upfitted trucks to verify compliance with company standards and customer specifications.
  • Perform functional testing of all installed components, including electrical systems, mechanical parts, and other equipment.
  • Use a variety of testing equipment and tools to assess quality and functionality.

Documentation

  • Document all inspection findings, including any defects or non-conformances, in detailed reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions taken.
  • Ensure all inspection documentation is complete and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Complete all supportive documentation needed including Data sheets and Key sets.
  • Documentation to be uploaded as part of the Travel packet with each job.

Quality Assurance

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and standards.
  • Provide feedback to production teams on quality issues and work with them to resolve problems.
  • Monitor ongoing production processes to ensure continuous compliance with quality standards.

Process Improvement

  • Identify areas for improvement in the quality control process and recommend solutions.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes to address recurring quality issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to refine and improve upfitting processes.

Training and Support

  • Train production staff on quality control standards and procedures.
  • Support production teams with troubleshooting and resolving quality issues during the upfitting process.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality control or inspection, preferably in the automotive or truck upfitting industry.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of quality control standards and procedures.
  • Familiarity with automotive or truck upfitting processes and components.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and production environment.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and other elements common to a truck upfitting facility.

Supervisory Responsibility

 No Direct Report responsibilities are needed for this position.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

 This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a half an hour lunch. Differing hours may be arranged. 

Travel

Infrequent travel is anticipated.
