About the role

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for leading accounting functions of IDRx. The controller will manage and direct’ fiscal functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), to ensure finance excellence through treating internal/external stakeholders as key customers. Qualified candidates will be strong internal and external collaborators and will maintain fiscal records, establish accounting policies and procedures, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will define and drive execution of financial goals, and provide high-level critical thinking and input on business strategy to ensure financial goals are defined, measured and met. This position is full remote, but the IDRx team meets in-person in Cambridge once per month.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage accounting and reporting functions of IDRx.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, to meet Company's external reporting obligations and internal reporting requests.
• Plan and manage quarterly and yearly audit/tax processes including serving as principal contact with independent accountants.
• Design, implement and maintain a system of internal controls to ensure safeguarding of Company assets and accurate financial statements.
• Design and manage the monthly closing process adequate to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
• Work with FP&A to monitor and analyze monthly operating results against the budget as well as reporting results to the leadership team and Board of Directors.
• Potentially recommend and lead the implementation of a new ERP system for general ledger, reporting and budgeting.
• Potentially recommend and lead the implementation of a new equity administration system.
• Manage the company treasury, including the relationship with the Company’s asset manager, and cash/checking accounts to ensure acceptable yield and security, and that financial transactions execute smoothly.
• Manage business valuation and options pricing analyses.
• Assist with the design of standard operating procedures and SOX processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of Company's tax filings for Federal, State, and Payroll tax obligations.
• Help to negotiate and implement agreements with partners, licensees, CROs, clinical investigators/sites, CMs, facility and equipment leases.
• Manage key vendor relationships to secure competitive terms and delivery.
• Partner with HR to administer payroll/benefits, 401k plan.
• Manage accounting aspects of stock option plan including valuation analyses, reports, etc.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

• BA with emphasis in accounting; 10-15 years hands on experience providing finance support within biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries; CPA preferred
• Previous experience working for a top accounting firm
• Proven experience, solid knowledge and understanding of SEC filing requirements, US GAAP, FASB, SEC reporting, and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)
• Ability to develop process and policies as needed and enhances finance support for management and employees
• Manage and prioritize competing deadlines and multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-growing company
• Ability to work independently with little supervision provided
• Excellent time management, communications, decision making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a cross functional, team-oriented environment at all levels of the organization
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience with NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, various equity and payroll systems preferred
