Job Summary:

As an Advanced NDT Inspector in the oilfield industry, your primary responsibility is to conduct advanced non-destructive testing techniques on critical equipment and structures to detect flaws, defects, or anomalies. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and operational efficiency of oilfield assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Advanced NDT Techniques:
  • Utilize advanced NDT methods such as phased array ultrasonics (PAUT), time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD), magnetic particle testing (MPT), eddy current testing (ECT), remote field testing (RFT), and other specialized techniques.
  • Conduct inspections on various components including pipelines, pressure vessels, drilling equipment, and offshore platforms.
  • Interpretation and Analysis:
  • Analyze test results and interpret findings to identify defects, discontinuities, or structural integrity issues.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports outlining the findings, recommendations for repairs or maintenance, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Ensure all NDT activities adhere to industry standards (e.g., ASNT, API, ASTM) and regulatory requirements (e.g., API 510, API 570).
  • Assist in developing and implementing NDT procedures, techniques, and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate inspection schedules, interpret results, and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to address concerns, provide technical guidance, and ensure client satisfaction.

  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures during NDT operations to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident investigations as required.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:
  • Maintain and calibrate NDT equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and perform basic troubleshooting or coordinate repairs with equipment manufacturers or service providers.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Preferred bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Level II, API certifications) highly desirable.
  • Experience: Several years of experience in advanced NDT techniques, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating and interpreting results from advanced NDT equipment and software. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative approach with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.
  • Certifications: ASNT Level II or equivalent certification in relevant NDT methods (PAUT, TOFD, MPT, ECT, etc.) required; API certifications (e.g., API 510, API 570) a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Work is predominantly conducted outdoors, often in challenging weather conditions and on offshore platforms or remote locations.
  • Schedule: May require irregular hours and on-call availability to accommodate client needs and project deadlines.
  • Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation, and color vision. Moving, carrying, lifting objects in excel of 60lbs. Climbing and working on ladders, stairs, and scaffolding more than 100ft. Working in or near industrial hazards.

Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour
