Job Summary:
The Ammonia Refrigeration Manager is responsible for maintaining the Ammonia Refrigeration equipment and performing maintenance activities for buildings and equipment to support facility operations.
This includes ensuring that the Plants Ammonia System complies with all safety regulations and the Environmental Protection & Safety Management (EPSM) standards.
The manager is also responsible for Training, Scheduling, and Managing Refrigeration Tech and ensuring that they meet all safety requirements for the Ammonia System to perform effectively in the buildings.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

• Complete proper and timely preventative maintenance to ensure efficient and safe operation of equipment and systems in the ammonia refrigeration system, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, vessels, valves, and purges
• Replace defective refrigeration equipment as needed
• Control the equipment temperature set points to meet customer needs and maintain product integrity
• Maintain control of the water treatment system and associated chemicals
• Ensure all paperwork and reports are accurate, completed on time, and meet OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements
• Monitor third-party maintenance vendors working near or with ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure compliance with company, OSHA, and EPA safety policies
• Perform regular sampling of ammonia and oil for analysis
• Train team members on ammonia leak and spill procedures and provide coaching for those requiring additional training to meet the standard
• Participate in leak and spill drills to meet requirements
• Actively participate in location Emergency Response planning
• Inspect, test, and calibrate ammonia detection systems as needed

Education
Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) Level 1 certification from Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) or Refrigeration Operator Class 1 license, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Ammonia Refrigeration is required.
Prior management experience is a must. The applicant should hold a Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) Level 1 certification from Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) or a Refrigeration Operator Class 1 license.
Ability to obtain the certification or license within 1 year of hire is also required.
