JOB TITLE: Forklift Driver – Shipping & Receiving
DEPARTMENT: Shipping & Receiving
FLSA: hourly-paid, non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor and/or Department Manager

OBJECTIVE: Responsible for the safe operation of a forklift to move paper products, raw materials and finished goods to and from truck trailers to and from storage areas and/or machines in the production area.
Essential Functions
A) Responsible for the safe operation of a forklift to move paper products, raw materials and finished goods to and from truck trailers to and from storage areas and/or machines in the production area.
B) Must respond timely to load and unload truck trailers
C) Prepares finished goods for shipment. Retrieves finished goods, palletizes, wrap and weigh. Complete and apply pallet tags.
D) Complete pre-operation daily inspection of forklift to insure it is safe and serviceable to drive. Document inspection on required forms. Immediately report unsafe conditions or potential problems to supervisor.
E) Reports hazards, defective materials and equipment problems to management
F) Accurately complete required paperwork, including but not limited to: packing lists, Bills of Lading, load diagrams to properly distribute weigh in the trailer and maximize capacity to reduce freight costs
G) Insure all materials are properly identified and clearly labeled
H) Exchange propane tank
I) Maintains the forklift and work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition, free from hazards
J) Follows all safety rules
K) Requires the ability to sit to drive a forklift, including backwards, and stand and walk for a minimum 8-hour shift; work overtime, swing or night shift and weekends
L) Requires the ability to constantly lift, carry, push and pull 30 pounds
M) Experience doing Weekly and Monthly Inventory.
Other Duties
A) Occasionally may be required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds
B) Participate in special projects as required
Reporting Relationship
A) Reports to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor or Manager
Minimum Qualifications
A) High School Diploma or equivalent
B) Ability to learn all aspects of safe forklift driving and material handling
C) Ability to learn and perform all essential functions and other duties, with or without reasonable accommodation
D) Must be able to understand verbal and written directions and training
E) Must be able to accurately complete required paperwork
F) Requires the ability to sit to drive a forklift, including backwards, and stand and walk for a minimum 8-hour shift
G) Must be able to continuously lift, carry, push, pull a minimum of 30 pounds
H) Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications
A) Prior experience as a forklift operator
B) Prior experience working in manufacturing
C) Prior experience in paper manufacturing
D) Bi-lingual English-Spanish

Physical Environment/Working Conditions
This position is in the factory, where temperature fluctuations occur throughout the year and where employees must use eye and hearing protection and be cautious around equipment and forklifts.
