Recommend and/or take necessary corrective action.Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all control systems at station. Which include, but are not limited to:Honeywell ExperionSiemens T3000Honeywell TDC3000Allen Bradley Use hand tools, power tools, test and calibration equipment to perform maintenance activities. Perform rigging, staging, overhead crane and forklift truck operation Utilize the maintenance management system (Maximo, et. al.) by: Performing "work orders" as assignedComplete maintenance data sheets for entry into equipment history data baseProvide input for the development and improvement of maintenance procedures Observe work of third party contractors (e.g., outside vendors, Rhode Island Energy, etc.) when needed. Maintain and update shop records including prints, drawings, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals. Use computer to retrieve job-related data. Handle and/or dispose of hazardous materials and waste products to include cleaning of spills. Participate in on-the-job training, initially as a trainee in the progression program, then as an OJT trainer for other personnel. Maintain, clean, and properly store shop equipment and tools. Comply with all company safety and compliance (environmental and NERC) regulations, including safe work practices as described in the company Safety Policies, Station Safety Procedures, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Perform work assignments within other departments at times of peak loads, major operating problems, emergency situations. Conduct lock out tag out (LOTO) activities within system and plant rules and regulations. Perform Work Authorization Paperwork as directed by Management and Company Procedures. Participate and Contributes to Plant Safety Meetings and Programs. Brings ideas for Safety improvements forward. Documents all safety findings appropriately (near miss reporting, safety work orders, incident investigation participation, and safety improvement plans). Stops work and takes corrective action if an unsafe act is witnessed and escalates to management as appropriate. Enforces site safety rules and practices. Participates in the upkeep of the facility (i.e. snow removal, walkway salting, etc.) Research, procure, and order parts and materials, as required. Maintains good housekeeping. This job description does not include all duties and requirements of the job. The company values work/life balance, however, a requirement of this job that emergent overtime will be worked occasionally, and planned overtime will be worked during high peak times. Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma (or equivalent) plus two years of trade or technical school with training in the fundamentals of The Power Plant Cycle.Six years experience in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of instrument and electrical (I&E) systems, and equipment in a power plant or similar industrial setting. Demonstrated ability in reading process & instrumentation diagrams, electrical one-line diagrams and logic diagrams, and use of test equipment through a practical examComplete accredited courses in (or possess a certificate of equivalent training earning CEUs):Basic College Math/AlgebraBasic ElectricityBasic ElectronicsComplete the Hiring Process (including background check and drug screening).Complete the Progression Program within required intervals.Obtain RI Crane Operators license.Experience with High Voltage Test Equipment.Obtain a RI Journeyman Electrician license within 5 years.Obtain ISA Level I Certified Control System Specialist certification within 5 years.Valid driver’s license.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust successfully complete all required I&E Technician training. Ability in the following areas; basic math, electricity, chemistry and power plant physical sciences; print reading; communication skills. Competency is demonstrated through satisfactory completion of accredited courses. Company courses or equivalency examsAbility to perform technical troubleshooting.Ability to communicate effectively orally using telephone and PA system.Ability to use a computer effectively, including: Word, Excel, PI, time keeping , computer based training, and other needs as technology changes over time.Ability to work on and troubleshoot on Server Based Control Systems.Ability to read and interpret blue prints, drawings, panel schedules, etc.Work EnvironmentWork on ladders and scaffolding, work at heights, work in high noise and/or temperature extreme environments, work near high voltage and/or rapidly rotating equipment and work in cramped and/or confined positions with occasional heavy lifting.Be able to operate fork lifts, manlifts, and overhead cranes in performance of job.Work is often physical and in atmospheric conditions where fumes, dust, and gases are present.Work overtime (e.g., scheduled, unscheduled, and call-ins); be reachable by telephone and be willing to respond to around-the-clock plant problems.Occasional work with toxic chemicals including but not limited to solvents, acids, and caustics. PPE will be provided by the Company. Physical Abilities Physical work in atmospheric conditions where fumes, dust and gases are present.Cramped working conditions requiring manual dexterity and adequate hand-eye coordination. Cramped work conditions often require adequate upper body strength and overall flexibility.Work requires a high level of manual dexterity, and average levels of hearing and sight (color recognition is important).Adequate oral skills for communication via telephone and public announcement systemsContinuous walking, stair climbing, and standing required.
