Job Title : Reading Specialist
Job Goal : Provide instructional programs to eligible students
Reports To : Building Administrator / Superintendent
Qualifications : Illinois Teaching Certification with appropriate endorsements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITIES :
General
1. Communicate and collaborate effectively with others.
2. Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
3. Maintain a record of dependability as evidenced by consistent attendance, punctuality and attention to work.
4. Understand and adapt to a variety of situations.
5. Maintain and exhibit general and personal safety practices.
6. Maintain stakeholders satisfaction.
7. Work independently and exercise good judgment.
8. Assume personal responsibility for professional performance and growth.
9. Utilize effective problem solving processes.
10. Exhibit professionalism in appearance and demeanor.
11. Read, understand and follow verbal and written directions.
12. Utilize applicable technology to support performance responsibilities.
Specific
1. Develop and implement effective instructional strategies based on the needs of students.
2. Plan and deliver group and individual academic lessons.
4. Participate and prepare information for evaluations and progress review meetings as determined by district.
5. Complete on-going academic assessments on students.
6. Make proactive calls to parents and district staff concerning behavior, grades, school conferences, etc.
7. Provide direct instruction to students with remedial reading needs.
8. Continually assess and monitor progress of students with remedial reading needs.
9. Support classroom teachers in the teaching of reading.
10. Promote best practices in teaching reading and implementing district curriculum.

EVALUATION :
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually, twice annually, or at least every two years in accordance with the provisions of the applicable policies of the district.

Length of contract, salary, and benefits as established by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
