Position Overview

Under general supervision of the Mailroom Processing Unit Coordinator, performs a variety of complex, specialized clerical mailroom functions for the Harris Complex, which includes receiving, sorting and processing incoming and outgoing mail weighing up to 50 lbs.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Monitors and processes daily incoming and outgoing mail; maintains a mail log of incoming and outgoing mail; delivers and receives mail and/or messages on a prescribed schedule throughout the area; lifts boxes and mail weighing up to 50 lbs.
  2. Maintains current list of personnel at the Harris Complex, updating employee list as staff leave or new staff come to the Harris Complex.
  3. Serves as a receptionist for the Harris Complex mailroom.
  4. Tapes, weighs and applies postage to outgoing mail for the Harris Complex, weighing up to 50 lbs.
  5. Operates postage machine; maintains meter usage data; compiles and produces reports.
  6. Verifies that “Special Requests” from staff at the Harris Complex are completed, i.e., pick up and delivery of boxes, reports, etc.
  7. Serves as back up mailroom support for Iles Park Place and Industrial Drive Complex, as well as back up driver for the various DHS mail routes.
  8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.

  1. Requires a valid driver’s license.
