Function / Position Summary The primary purpose of this position is to operate a truck on a specified delivery route safely and efficiently, in a friendly and professional manner. Be proficient in all current software used to facilitate all daily operations supporting the goals of the district. Job Duties / Responsibilities
Efficiently completes an assigned delivery route within designated timelines. (This includes delivery of Elementary and Secondary foods and supplies and District Mail.)
Responsible for maintaining the truck, (conducting pre/post-trip truck and trailer inspections) and proper documentation in maintenance log.
Follows required sanitation practices.
Advises Distribution Center Foreman when circumstances arise requiring a resolution.
Loads and unloads district vehicles, and receives freight truck deliveries.
Picks Textbook, Furniture and Internal orders from Distribution Center stock with accuracy.
Efficiently uses current software that supports daily operations of the Distribution Center.
Operates various forklifts (including sit down, narrow aisle, and walk behind).
Processes external Purchase Orders, documents, and product non-conformances (i.e. incorrect or damaged items in shipment).
Other duties as assigned.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
CDL Illinois Driver's License required with a class "B" and air brake endorsement (required).
Holds (or qualifies for) a certificate of forklift operation (required).
CDL class “B” truck (2 years’ experience preferred).
Evidence of one-year experience in the Warehouse/Distribution field.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Knowledge of district delivery routes and procedures, allowing for the possibility of route substitution (preferred).
Ability to operate and maintain all common equipment in a Distribution Center (preferred).
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds occasionally using proper technique.
Must be able to deliver products in a multitude of methods including manual conveyors and/or carts in multi-temperature environments.
Terms of Employment
This is a 12 Month ESSO position.
Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
Flexible hours/OT may be necessary.
