Duties & Responsibilities
Directly supervises, provides leadership, and assigns work to electrician sub-forepersons and electricians assigned to the electrical shop to be completed in accordance with prioritized needs and schedules. Plans and organizes the electrical maintenance and alteration work performed by electrician sub-forepersons, electricians, and other assigned personnel. Assists with estimates by providing labor and material costs for assigned projects which may include departmental charge-out, maintenance repairs, and preventative maintenance. Works closely with the work management center, project coordinators, engineering, and Building Maintenance; monitors schedules and controls craft related costs.
Monitors work performance of assigned sub-forepersons and electricians and ensures satisfactory work quality and completion requirements are being met. Monitors work to ensure compliance with prevailing codes and university facilities standards as well as correct procedures and techniques. Visits job sites to ensure satisfactory work quality and completion requirements are being met.
Maintain records of work completed, material purchasing, overtime lists, training records, and verifying mobile timekeeping/ timecards.
Responsible for tools, equipment, and ordering materials for use by the electrical sub-forepersons and electricians in the electrical shop. Inventories tools and equipment.
Participates in schedule review meetings with the work management center for final schedule approval. Participates in multi-craft work order review meetings with shop forepersons and building maintenance supervision.
Makes recommendations for safety initiatives and programs, hiring and discipline, and addresses performance issues. Responsible for safety and policy enforcement.
Provide leadership for emergency response off normal working hours to handle emergency calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
