Gaming Shift Supervisor

Essential Functions

  • Plans, assigns, and reviews the activities of subordinate Gaming Special Agents and State Police personnel tasked with conducting regulatory and criminal investigations related to the Illinois Gambling Act, Video Gaming Act, Sports Wagering Act, State Fair Gaming Act, and any other statutes for which the Illinois Gaming Board has jurisdiction.

  • Provides guidance and training to assigned staff.

  • Serves as a working supervisor and is responsible for a reduced caseload.

  • Assists principal investigator in conducting the more complex investigations of new casino owners or other applicants for video gaming or sports wagering licenses that have complex ownership structures.

  • Works closely with other law enforcement agencies and gaming jurisdictions in conducting joint investigations or in exchanging information on cases of mutual concern.

  • Participates in various trainings, including but not limited to: Firearms; Professional; Fitness.

  • Serves as supervisor in the absence of the Gaming Unit Supervisor keeping the chain of command apprised of any information or significant events that occur in the absence of the Gaming Unit Supervisor.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with coursework in law enforcement, criminal justice, pre-law, business administration, or a related field.
  • Requires four (4) years progressively responsible professional experience as a Gaming Senior Special Agent in Enforcement or Investigations with the Gaming Board.
  • Requires current certification as a sworn peace officer and have graduated from an approved State Police academy program.

Conditions of Employment

  • Pass Illinois Gaming Board’s background investigation. (Background check).
  • Passed an approved firearms qualifications course and have a valid Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID).
  • Possess sufficient physical fitness to have passed the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (Power Test).
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must comply with the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act: No State employee who works for the Illinois Gaming Board, or spouse or immediate family member living with such person shall, during State employment, hold an ownership interest in, other than a passive interest in, a publicly traded company, in any gaming license under the Illinois Gambling Act, the Video Gaming Act, the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975, or the Sports Wagering Act.
  • Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act: No person shall be employed to serve the Board who is, or whose spouse, parent or child is, an official of, or has a financial interest in or financial relation with, any operator engaged in gambling operations within this State, or any organization engaged in conducting horse racing within this State.
  • Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act: For the one year immediately preceding employment, an employee shall not have been employed or received compensation or fees for services from a person or entity, or its parent or affiliate, that has engaged in business with the Board, a licensee, or a licensee under the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975.
