Major established, expanding and brand name company at a large manufacturing site on the south side of the Atlanta metro with a good working culture has an opportunity for an Advanced Supplier Quality Engineer to be responsible for Supplier production process and part qualification (APQP) with emphasis on Lean Manufacturing, Defect Free environment, and Re-occurrence Prevention. New Supplier and new technology approval and development is part of the activities. This opportunity offers major company benefits, bonus potential, and up to 2% profit sharing. Responsibilities:Work involves functioning as a technical liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement and monitor advanced quality planning, and provide support using independent judgment within the limits of general practices and standards. Purchased parts qualification and approval for mass production.
Assists in the implementation and monitoring of advanced quality planning with selected future product suppliers
Assure supplier understanding of product and submission requirements
Review and approve supplier quality plans on new part programs
Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
Implement and monitor the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers
Provide training in area of Lean Manufacturing. Support Kaizen activity pertaining to process and systems development
Determine cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions
Improve quality performance of assigned suppliers
Maintain required documentation and files
May determine part critical characteristics and required process controls
May review tool, fixture and part design
May participate as member or resource to product development teams
Up to 30% travel which could be up to a week at a time with short notice Qualifications:Education / Experience:4 year degree or equivalent experience in automotive or manufacturing environment and at least 2 years of related experience and without a degree needed is at least 8-10 years of related experience. Needed is supplier quality engineering experience, with advanced supplier quality engineering experience to include new product engineering and process changes preferred. Other Required Skills:
