We are currently seeking a skilled Metal Fabricator for our client in New Haven, CT. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading manufacturing company in a direct placement or contract-to-hire role.

To be considered for this position, 5 years of relevant experience is required.

• Prepare metal materials for fabrication by cutting, grinding, and cleaning.
• Examine and interpret weld blueprints, engineered drawings, and work order instructions.
• Configure welding machine according to specific materials, thicknesses, and positions.
• Operate complex weld fixtures and turntables for precise positioning.
• Inspect welded parts using precision tools like calipers, protractors, and gauges.
• Ensure proper assembly and identify any cosmetic defects, tagging non-conforming parts for re-work.
• Perform belt and hand grinding tasks as needed.
• Complete assigned tasks within manufacturing schedules and standard timeframes.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
• Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Execute production welding jobs and assist in new job development.
• Collaborate in the design of tooling and parts processing methods.
• Record detailed weld schedules and process sheets.
• Provide expertise in tooling, fixturing, and process knowledge to enhance production efficiency.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull objects weighing at least 50 lbs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Aerospace Welding is required.
• Proficiency in general computer skills with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including Microsoft Excel and strong math skills.
• Capability to design and construct intricate fixtures as necessary.
• Consistent ability to work within tight tolerances up to / - .005" and pass required welding certifications (AWS D17.1).
• At least 1 year of basic welding and metallurgy experience is essential.
• Adeptness in reading, interpreting, and following work instructions.
• Skilled in using standard bench tools and gauges for setup, inspection, and welding, such as calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and microscopes.
• Ability to operate computer-controlled machines and make necessary program adjustments.
• Proficiency in cutting, polishing, etching, and evaluating pre-weld acceptance samples and process control samples.
• Completion of logs, check sheets, job orders, and other relevant paperwork for each job.
• Supporting Welding Engineers in developing process schedules.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
