Imagine Schools is Hiring a School Bus Aide Near Toledo, OH

About the Job:
  • Imagine is looking to hire a Paraprofessional (Aide).
The job of a Paraprofessional is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs in the general education setting or a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior, and providing information to appropriate school personnel.

Qualification - Experience - Knowledge:
  • A valid Ohio Paraprofessional License is required for the completion of 60 semester hours of college credit at a regionally accredited institution of higher education (evidence is an official transcript).
  • Obtained an associate degree (or higher) at a regionally accredited institution of higher education (evidence is an official transcript), or a valid I Ohio Professional Educator License.

Essential Functions:
  • Acts as a mandated reporter to ensure the safety of the students.
  • Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and meet IEP goals.
  • Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. to support student needs in the classroom.
  • Assists students (e.g. diapering, lifting, transitioning from desk to wheelchair, etc.…) to attend to the student’s hygiene and care needs.
  • Attends meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and/or convey information relative to job functions.
  • Communicates with supervising instructional staff, a variety of health care professionals, and professional support personnel to communicate progress or implement IEP objectives.
  • Escorts students (e.g. bathroom, classroom, community, etc.…) to ensure an efficient and safe arrival to and/or from a destination. 
  • Implements, under the supervision of the assigned teacher, research-based interventions to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
  • Intervenes in potential conflicts utilizing appropriate physical and/or therapeutic approaches to diffuse confrontations and minimize disruptions.
  • Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records to ensure the availability of items; provides written reference; and/or meets mandated requirements.
  • Monitors students’ daily schedules and behavior plans to maintain a safe and positive learning environment. 
  • Provides, under the supervision of the assigned teacher, instruction to the student in a variety of individual and group activities to reinforce instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans; and ensure the student’s access to his/her least restrictive environment.
  • Supervises individuals and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. community field trips, hallways, bus loading areas, cafeteria, parking lots, classrooms, etc.) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Prepares the learning environment to allow the student to participate in classroom activities.
  • Supervises and escorts the student during any emergency drills or actual emergencies to provide a safe learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Education: Associate or bachelor's degree
  • Licenses & Certifications: Ohio certification and endorsement in assigned area.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of successful school experience 
  • Knowledge, Ability & Skills: Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to perform independently. Ability to remain pleasant and helpful under sometimes-stressful circumstances. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask when necessary. Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and statutes and theory and practice of student learning styles. Ability to communicate cooperatively and constructively with other staff, students, and parents in a multicultural environment.
