IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Senior Commissioning Authority in our Seattle, WA office. As a Senior Commissioning Authority you will be responsible for performing the full range of Commissioning (Cx) responsibilities on all building types including large, complex projects, in addition to leading retro-commissioning and energy assessment projects. Tasks include preparing Cx plans and specifications, web-based project management and documentation (Cx Alloy), Cx design reviews, lead construction meetings, perform site observations, develop pre-functional checklists and functional tests, perform functional testing with contractors/owners, issue management, write Cx and related reports, and post occupancy follow-up activities.

Some key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage and/or support multiple commissioning projects including client interface, team coordination, schedule and budget management;
  • Manage a minimum contract value of $1,000,000;
  • Perform Cx reviews of construction documents and equipment submittals;
  • Work effectively as a team member;
  • Develop commissioning plans, reports, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures;
  • Assist with functional testing of systems;
  • Contribute to improving Cx processes and best practices;
  • Perform technical analysis of building operation (controls, sequences, etc.);
  • Proactively communicate with a wide range of client stakeholders.

Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:

  • Strong oral and written skills and a proven ability to interact professionally with a wide a range of clients;
  • Experienced knowledge of HVAC and electrical system designs and operations;
  • Experienced knowledge of building automation and lighting control systems;
  • Experienced knowledge of Cx Industry Standards (ASHRAE, ACG, BCxA) and code requirements;
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC Title 24, ASHRAE, IECC, IMC, NEC, etc.);
  • Experienced in the review of construction documents (mechanical, controls, plumbing and electrical drawings, specifications, etc.);
  • Experienced knowledge of electrical and fire/life safety systems;
  • Knowledge of construction industry safety practices and procedures;
  • Experienced in troubleshooting of field devices and control hardware and software;
  • Capable of self-performing functional testing of building MEP systems and coordinates non-standard test scopes such as technology, BECx, etc;
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Skilled with PDF editors (Bluebeam, Adobe), plus additional online project management software;
  • Ability to travel up to 30% (travel will depend on project needs and may vary widely).

Education and experience requirements are:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required;
  • 10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) consulting industry, or equivalent;
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred;
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
