Job Description IMMI is seeking a Product Engineer, New Product Development (VA/VE) to join our Engineering Team in Westfield to design and develop new products or improve current products using engineering disciplines and tools such as Stage-Gate, Computer Aided Design and Engineering tools, Test and Validation, Product Release, etc. The goal is to create and redesign products or processes that meet IMMI targets for performance specifications, cost, and timing. RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions of this position are as follows:
Design and develop products using IMMI Stage-Gate process with the focus on improving its value proposition, reducing costs, or enhancing its overall performance.
Provides guidance to designers/supporting engineers for designs, drawings, requisitions, etc. to meet regulatory, process, mechanical and project requirements.
Work collaboratively to execute projects that reduce cost (VA/VE) with various internal competencies i.e. Testing, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality and Finance.
Engage with suppliers and outside contractors to accomplish key outsourcing activities like part sourcing or contract design.
Get "hands-on" and build functional prototypes to evaluate form, fit, function, and assembly methods.
Develop and execute validation testing to qualify designs through the product development process.
Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects at a time and prioritize work.
Gain peer and management product insight through informal and formal design reviews.
Utilize design tools available to maximize development time while ensuring optimal product design.
Fully supports company programs, policies, and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications of this position are as follows: Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities:
5 years of product design experience, preferably in Automotive Industry, Continuous improvement, and sustainability
Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
Proficient with 2D & 3D solid modeling design software, Solidworks preferred.
Plastics and Sheet Metal design development experience desired.
Must have general knowledge of manufacturing and assembly methodologies.
Strong results orientation and positive "can do" attitude with a sense of urgency.
Self-starter: a "hands-on" individual who enjoys challenge and is dedicated to getting the job done with minimal support and direction.
Collaborative leader and team player.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in mechanical / industrial or equivalent Engineering field (BSME, BSMET) required.
