Immigration Center for Women and Children is Hiring an Immigration Supervising Attorney – Las Vegas Office Near Las Vegas, NV

The Immigration Center for Women and Children (ICWC) is a non-profit legal organization that strives to provide security and stability for immigrants who are victims of crime and survivors of violence. ICWC primarily works with federal immigration laws that allow marginalized immigrants apply for employment authorization, humanitarian-based relief, and permanent residency.

Summary:

ICWC seeks a full-time Supervising Attorney to help lead a dynamic team of attorneys, DOJ accredited representatives, and support staff in its Las Vegas office. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated passion for, and commitment to, working with unaccompanied children, survivors of violence, and other similar populations. Under the guidance of the Directing Attorney, the Supervising Attorney will support the team in providing direct services to vulnerable individuals and assist with managing our Unaccompanied Children Project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal consultations to screen for all types of immigration relief for potential clients
  • Maintain a diverse caseload, providing direct representation in front of USCIS and EOIR, with a focus on humanitarian cases (including Asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U Visa, T Visa, and VAWA)
  • Supervise staff attorneys, DOJ accredited representatives, and support staff – including reviewing work product and supervising case representation
  • Coordinate with staff who visit the ORR facility in Clark County to provide Know Your Rights presentations to the children
  • Collaborate with ICWC management team across five offices in California and Nevada
  • Represent ICWC and our clients at local and regional stakeholder, coalition, and advocacy meetings
  • Other tasks as assigned/necessary

Requirements:

  • Possess active and good standing Bar License from any United States jurisdiction, Nevada Bar preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience practicing immigration law practice
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience supervising employees
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to public interest law and prior experience serving low-income individuals
  • Ability to work effectively with survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of trauma
  • Willing to study Spanish and increase fluency in Spanish to work with clients independently (current fluency not required at time of hiring, but must be willing to learn Spanish)
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both in writing and orally
  • Have strong organizational skills, technical/database skills, and attention to detail
  • Be able to take initiative and work independently, as well as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in the English/Spanish languages
  • Experience with Humanitarian Relief (asylum, SIJS, U/T Visa) and removal defense (including law school clinic experience and internships)
  • Prior experience working with low-income individuals, survivors of trauma/crime/domestic violence, and/or children

Salary/Benefits :

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $86,000 to $100,000, depending on experience. ICWC believes in work-life balance and offers thirteen (13) paid holidays, a week-long winter break, and generous paid time off.
