Abundant Life Christian School is seeking a caring and active individual to work with our Elementary team in a service-oriented position, providing a day to day support to our classroom teachers and students. The position involves contact with students, faculty, staff and parents who require service from the school.

SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS

Our Elementary Aide shall be a mature, sincere Christ-follower. We seek confirmation that s/he:

  • Has received Jesus Christ as her/his personal Savior
  • Believes that the Bible is God's Holy Word and the standard for faith and daily living
  • Agrees with the school's Statement of Faith
  • Serve as a Godly role-model for students in attitude, speech, and actions toward others
  • Be a member in good standing at a local church
  • Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership and integrity to "train up a child in the way he should go"

QUALIFICATIONS

Our Aide shall meet the minimum qualifications for the job:

  • Show evidence of Christian maturity and a strong grasp of the essence of Christian education
  • Has a high school diploma or equivalent; preference given to a Bachelor's degree
  • Love of children and heart to serve others
  • Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and timeliness
  • Meet everyday stress with prayerful consideration, emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
  • Respectfully submit and be loyal to authority
  • Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately; avoid gossip and practice Biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our Elementary Aide shall assist our faculty, provide leadership and support in the classroom and on the playground as needed, and serve our students and school through support of the day to day school functions by:

  • Reflect the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of learning environment
  • Assist the classroom teacher with planning and implementing of instruction or administrative duties under the direction of the classroom teacher
  • Supervise the room when the classroom teacher is out of the room or engaged in individualized instruction
  • Assist with general housekeeping as needed or assigned by the teacher or administration
  • Assist teachers in any way appropriate including but not limited to: overseeing the classroom, helping students, supporting classroom management and student behavior, encouraging spiritual growth, assisting with projects, prepping materials, helping with grading, putting up bulletin boards or projects, laminating, photocopying, etc.
  • Support teachers by partnering for classroom/behavior management
  • Lead and support student free time on the playground
  • Enforce playground rules and maintain safety of students on playground; provide discipline in accord with school policy
  • Supervise and assist students with lunch, as needed or assigned
  • Maintain professional attitude while interacting with students, faculty, staff and parents
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect
  • Participate in professional development, team meetings, staff meetings, and other opportunities to grow spiritually, enrich/enhance knowledge of childhood education, etc.
  • Recognize the need for good public relations; represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and general public
  • Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature
  • Other duties as assigned

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to communicate effectively with school personnel of all levels
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to prioritize and organize
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Ability to reach, stoop, bend, pull and occasionally carry up to 20 pounds
