Salary:

Title: Safety Coordinator

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Safety Manager

Job Summary: Actively models customer service by acknowledging visitors, clients, and staff with a friendly greeting. Identifies visitors in order to provide directions, information, or program recommendations. Actively engages both clients and staff with a friendly and energetic disposition. Assists with keeping assigned area(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed safety and cleaning standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively receives, greets, assists, and provides oustanding customer service to clients and staff. Provides visitors with directions or information. May escort visitors totheir destination or notify staff of a visitor's arrival
  • Controls disturbances and assists staff in de-escalating volatile situations
  • Ensures that safety devices, alarms, fire extinguishers, camera surveillance, and alarm console are always in operating order
  • Ensures safety of visitors, clients, and staff by making physical inspections and safety checks of grounds and facility, checking for:

Physical hazards

Fires

Vandalism

Suspicious persons or activity

  • Observes activity and traffic to enforce Agency policies and procedures. Alerts visitors and staff of violations. Reports issues or infractions, as necessary.
  • Documents daily written logs of activity (grounds and building check logs, vehicle maintenance logs)
  • Assists in facility cleanliness

Stocking of restroom supplies

Keeping floors clean of spills, debris and trash items

Emptying public-facing trash and recycling bins

  • Facility key carrier
  • Provides services as necessary to support curricular and extracurricular events and activities
  • Unlocks/opens parking lot(s) and building(s) for staff and visitors each morning as required per shift duties
  • Locks/secures open parking lot(s) and building(s) for staff and visitors each night as required per shift duties
  • May drive to other locations as required
  • Provides first aid assistance when needed
  • Performs clerical and other duties as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Extensive walking, stooping, crouching, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds using proper ergonomic techniques

Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ohio Driver License and reliable transportation and ability to meet Agency transportation insurance requirements
  • Experience as a security officer and/or local law enforcement preferred
