Impact Support Services, Inc. is Hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Near Columbia, MO

The Community Support Professional works directly with an individual to provide specific services to meet that individual's individualized needs. Programming is varied and may occur in a variety of settings. The Community Support Professional works independently with individuals and stakeholders and reports to a Program Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Accountable to the needs and desires of the individual in their home and/or community setting, providing opportunities to develop skills identified in ISP program goals.
  • Provide services to meet the needs of the individual, including needed physical assistance, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, hygiene, personal care, teaching life skills and/or social skills, and other basic living needs.
  • Maintain daily notes and documentation for individuals supported. Documentation of services provided should be entered into the electronic record within 24 hours.
  • Provide transportation if needed as part of the function of goals of the individual.
  • Maintain positive and effective communication/rapport with individuals, co-workers, and stakeholdersincluding, but not limited to, greeting individuals and guardians/staff, communicating with guardians/staff regarding services, representing our agency positively in the community, ensuring proper communication and teamwork with co-workers, keeping Program Manager informed of information relevant to individuals or the program, as appropriate.
  • Advocate for individuals with disabilities whenever possible.
  • Ensure Health and Safety standards are followed at all service sites.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Keep the Program Manager informed, in a timely manner, of situations, concerns, or problems related to individual personnel matters or services. Bring any unusual situations to the immediate attention of the Program Manager.
  • Maintain current certification in Abuse/Neglect Prevention, CPR, First Aid, Positive Behavior Support, HIPAA, and all others required by the agency.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB:

  • Skill in oral communication, including effective negotiation, advocacy, and collaboration.
  • Ability to complete documentation in an efficient manner.
  • Skill in utilizing appropriate training intervention techniques when working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Skill in online documentation systems and Zoom.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families, staff, community professionals, stakeholders, and volunteers.
  • Ability to teach and train new skills to individuals.
  • Skill in making decisions independently in accordance with program and organizational standards and policy.
  • Demonstration of values and language that reflect current best practices.
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to travel as required based on caseload and scope of work.
  • Ability to transport in personal vehicle as needed.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB:

  • Required Qualifications: Eighteen years of age or older and a high school diploma or equivalent.

WEIGHT LIFTING (OR OTHER PHYSICAL) REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB:

  • Ability to bend, stoop, or perform other physical duties as required.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk most of the shift, engaging the individual.
  • Ability to lift individual as necessary for repositioning/changing/toileting.

LICENSING OR OTHER SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Class E Missouri Drivers License and proof of car insurance.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check and driving record review

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.50 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 20 per week
