IMS is Hiring a General Maintenance Technician Near Liverpool, NY

Department: Facilities
Reports to: Department Manager
Location: Liverpool, Auburn and surrounding areas
Full-Time: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Pay Schedule: Weekly Pay
Non-Exempt: Compensation starts at $41,600-$52,000 yearly depending on experience
Benefits: Begin the first day after the first two full months of employment
Position SummaryThe General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, and general repair work. The role involves ensuring the upkeep of the company's facilities, diagnosing issues, and implementing solutions to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Essential DutiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels, etc.).
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
  • Perform necessary manual repairs (fix locks, replace windows, etc.)
Equipment Management
  • Inspect and maintain building systems, including HVAC, fire alarms, and plumbing.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure safe, efficient working conditions.
  • Order and replace materials as needed to ensure continued operations.
Safety And Compliance
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance calls and manage the resolution of issues.
Record Keeping
  • Maintain records of all maintenance and repair work conducted.
  • Document routine inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Prepare reports on maintenance activities and submit them to the Facilities Manager.
Collaboration And Support
  • Coordinate with other departments to schedule repairs and maintenance work.
  • Support the Facilities Manager in planning and executing maintenance projects.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of company events and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and general maintenance processes.
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Certifications in relevant maintenance fields (e.g., HVAC, electrical) are advantageous.
Decision Making Decisions and problems are complex and involve multiple constituencies, often with competing priorities. Problems are highly varied, complex, and often non-recurring; require novel and creative approaches to resolution. New concepts and approaches may have to be developed.
Independence of Action Results are defined; the incumbent sets their own goals and determines how to accomplish results with few or no guidelines to follow, although precedents may exist; the supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction. Provide additional information if desired.
People Management Not responsible for supervising others.
Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position successfully.
  • The role requires physical activity, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
  • May involve working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Must be available for on-call duty and able to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
  • Work is performed in a warehouse or production facility environment.
  • May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, push 800 pounds on a load-bearing cart, carry 25 pounds, and pull 200 pounds.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
  • It requires frequent standing, walking, crouching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and using repetitive motions of hands or wrists; finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with arms and hands for extended periods.
