IMS is Hiring a Purchasing Specialist (Buyer) Near Chagrin Falls, OH

Since 1949 IMS COMPANY (www.imscompany.com) continues to be a leading industrial distributor and light manufacturer serving primarily the injection molding industry. Our continued growth has created a demand for an additional full-time Purchasing Specialist.

The Purchasing Specialist (Buyer) plays an important role in inventory management. The central goal of our business model is to supply our customers with the correct product when it is needed. To that end, the Purchasing Specialist must focus on meeting inventory and stocking targets especially our primary and secondary core products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Create & maintain purchase orders in the ERP system using MRP to determine buy quantities.
  • Process price updates for assigned vendors.
  • Communicate any issues regarding late orders, and non-conforming products with the sales department.
  • Update sales quotes to orders.
  • Maintain assigned vendor records.
  • Negotiate cost, lead-time, freight, returns.
  • Resolve vendor disputes in a timely manner.
  • Update and maintain relevant product data with the ERP system.
  • Coordinates NCP process with assigned vendors.
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment of supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and their terms of sale both domestic and international.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
  • Analyze market conditions to assess present and future material availability.
  • Assist product specialist in the quoting process.
  • Compliance with IMS Company Handbook and other company policies
  • Work independently and in team environments
  • Continually improve operational knowledge of ERP systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must have 2 years’ experience as an industrial product buyer or equivalent experience, and general knowledge of the plastic processing industry.
  • Ability to work with arithmetic operations such as ratios, percentages, etc.
  • Must be able to read product drawings and understand their application to the purchasing process
  • Working knowledge of supply chain operations.
  • Extreme accuracy needed in data entry into business systems
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in sourcing and negotiating best price given the current constraints in the industry.
  • Excellent communications skills required (verbal, written, reading). Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos; ability to write business correspondences as needed. Experience with office equipment and software NetSuite software, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, fax, printer and copy machines.
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing personality with great attention to detail, strong analytic, organization, and time management skills.

The employee must occasionally lift, move, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds. The employee must frequently use computer and other special operating equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. Due to the nature of this job function it is necessary a physical presence on the job is an essential function of the job. IMS may consider short term (three months) accommodations made possible by technological advancements but it is at management’s sole discretion.

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
