Avionics Systems Engineer

In Orbit is looking for an engineer eager to join a fast-paced team developing cutting-edge space vehicles enabling microgravity research, manufacturing, and re-entry for a new orbital economy. As an Avionics Systems Engineer at In Orbit you will bring the vehicles to life. You will work throughout the product lifecycle of various electrical systems, bringing a big picture mindset alongside an attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and maintain electrical systems for test equipment and space vehicles
• Work closely with other subsystem engineers on hardware and software integration
• Be the point of contact for suppliers of electrical components and hardware
• Support testing, day-of-launch activities, and on-orbit operations

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics
• Experience with the full life cycle for embedded systems, printed circuit boards, and electronics
• Hands-on experience developing with off-the-shelf and/or custom electronics

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Advanced degree in a relevant field
• 2 years of experience working with space systems
• Experience in a programming language such as C, C , and Python
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing circuit boards using FPGAs, serial, ethernet, SPI, CAN, DRAM, etc.
• Experience with Altium Designer or SPICE-based simulators
• Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.
• Able to independently identify and resolve complex problems
• Able to work in a fast paced and demanding environment

Additional Requirements:

• Willing to work extended hours as needed
• Able to stand for extended periods of time
