About the Role:

As a Summer Intern (Data Scientist, Machine Learning, AI and/or Full Stack Development) at InBody, you will undergo training on best coding practices, coding in a corporate environment, and full-stack development. However, the focus of your internship will be on self-directed projects where you will have the opportunity to perform research, explore new ideas, and develop innovative projects spanning both 1) data science, machine learning, and/or AI and 2) full-stack development domains under the guidance of our experienced team members. 

The ideal candidate has a hunger for constant learning and development to bring forth new perspectives. We’re looking for an optimistic self-starter with a passion for software development and for the latest technology trends in the healthcare/medical device industry. This is a PAID full-time, onsite summer internship at our office located in Cerritos, CA reporting to the Assistant Manager, Software Integration.

During the internship program, all inters are expected to: 

• Participate in training sessions on best coding practices, coding in a corporate environment, and full-stack development. 

• Work on self-directed projects spanning data science, machine learning, AI, and full-stack development. 

• Perform research to identify project ideas, methodologies, and approaches. 

• Develop and implement algorithms, models, and solutions for your projects. 

• Build full-stack applications incorporating front-end and back-end technologies. 

• Collaborate with team members to receive guidance, feedback, and support. 

• Document your project progress, findings, and outcomes effectively. 

• Present your projects and findings to the team and stakeholders. 

• And most importantly, stay curious, proactive, and motivated to learn and grow throughout your internship! 

Internship Program Duration: 

• June 17, 2024 – September 13, 2024

Essential Responsibilities: 

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient web applications. 

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to create user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces. 

• Implement responsive and intuitive front-end designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js). 

• Develop robust back-end services and APIs using server-side languages and frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, .NET). 

• Integrate front-end components with server-side logic. 

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code. 

• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability. 

• Ensure the security and data protection of applications. 

• Troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack. 

• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team. 

• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve skills and project outcomes. 

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 

• For Data Science, AI, Machine learning:

  • Basic understanding of machine learning algorithms and principles. 
  • Basic understanding of machine learning algorithms and principles. 
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java. 

• For Computer Science:

  • Proven experience in Full Stack Developer or similar role. 
  • Strong proficiency with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 
  • Experience with front-end frameworks/libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js. 
  • Proficiency in back-end development using languages and frameworks such as Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, or .NET. 

• Familiarity with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL databases like MongoDB). 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git). 

• Understanding of web security principles and best practices. 

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Previous internship or project experience in software development. 

• Experience with software testing and debugging. 

• Knowledge of software design patterns. 

• Passion for learning new technologies and tools.
