Independence Health System, Inc. is Hiring a BEHAVIORAL HEALTH THERAPIST LICENSED Near Butler, PA

Responsible for supporting adults in the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program by providing on-going assessment of clients' mental illness symptoms and clients' response to treatment, making appropriate changes in treatment plans to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions are provided, providing education to clients about their illnesses, and providing therapy to clients and their families in community settings to assist them with understanding and managing their illnesses.

Essential Job Functions:

Acting as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team

Conducting a comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, diagnosis, drug use, physical and dental health, education, employment, social development, ADLs, family structure and relationships

Providing direct clinical services including individual supportive therapy and psychotherapy to clients on an individual, group and family basis in the office and the community to teach symptom management techniques

Provide side by side indicidualized support to help clients obtain the necessities of daily living, including medical and dental care

Assuming primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals

Providing service coordination for an assigned group of primary clients, including coordinating and monitoring the activities of the individual treatment team

Advocate for clients' rights and preferences

Competency and Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Master's in Social Work, Psychology or related field

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • Master's degree in behavioral health related field
  • Must be licensed or certified to work in the field
  • Personal knowledge of the Mental Health system

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in Mental Health/Human Service field

License, Certification & Clearances

  • License to work in the field (i.e. LSW, LPC, etc)
  • Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system
  • Act 33/73 clearances
  • Family & Friends CPR
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under the Health Systems motor vehicle liability insurance.
    • Other Requirements:
      Comprehensive Crisis Management per policy.
    • Responsible to safely access, transport, and handle single dose medications
      to include prescription and non-prescription medications.
    • Ability to safely transport clients in hospital vehicles.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
