Type: TribalSalary Range: $86,237 to $134,745 / Per Year Open Period: 5/16/2016 to 9/30/2016 Summary: Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation [TCRHCC] is a 73-bed, acute and outpatient regional health system organized as a private nonprofit healthcare organization operating under the Indian Self-Determination Act P.L. 93-638 since September 30, 2002. TCRHCC serves as a large geographic area, primarily encompassing over 6,000 square miles on the western Navajo Nation and adjacent Hopi and other communities. TCRHCC also serves as a regional referral medical center for over 75,000 residents across the Navajo Nation and adjacent communities.
The OB Nurse Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, implementing, reviewing and evaluating functions to meet health care and business standards of TCRHCC and accrediting agencies of the OB [Labor and Delivery, Postpartum]/Nursery Unit at TCRHCC. Incumbent attends to managing a budget, establishing and maintaining logistical systems. Performs a full range of administrative duties, consultative work within the Corporation. The incumbent will be responsible for clinical duties when necessary and should maintain all competency requirements. Requires the incumbent to utilize professional nursing principles and procedures with OB clinical experience and training to direct and apply to patient care. Exercises sound judgment in interpreting observations to the physician and other health care disciplines, Investigates incidents, researches and makes recommendations/ innovative development of best nursing and business practices. Initiates performance improvement measures, quality management for infection control, develops and educates staff on new policies and procedures as well as promoting staff development and training. Ensures an environment consistent with the goals of the organization and manages personnel based on established procedures, uses sound and ethical judgement. The incumbent will also work with the Chief Nurse Officer, OB Medical Chief, Medical Chief of Pediatrics and OB Subcommittee to ensure that quality and progressive patient care services are provided. Duties: 1. Supervises Direct Hire, Federal. Contract and Commissioned Officer employees of the following types Clinical Nurses, LPN’s, ward clerks, and nursing assistants. 2. Conducts meetings, conferences with subordinates regarding expectations, requirements, methods and procedures of performance and answer technical questions regarding work assignments. 3. Develops and monitors performance competency standards and takes corrective action as necessary. Develops an orientation plan for each new employee specific to their skills and needs. 4. Active in recruiting and retentions concerns of the unit. Ensures staff satisfaction and understands the importance of developing a team who is focused on providing a high quality and safe patient care services. 5. Identifies, develops and implements unit specific policies that guide the nursing practice standards. Develops new unit policies and incorporate research and information into existing policy to reflect current nursing practice. Regularly reviews and updates existing policies. 6. Ensures competency record maintenance in compliance with Nursing Standards at TCRHCC. 7. Ensures smooth functioning of the nursing care unit on a 24-hour basis. 8. Collaborates with the Medical Chief of OB/GYN and Medical Chief of Pediatrics to ensure compliance with policy and procedures, review of current practices and strategic/business plans for the future. 9. Presents reports to Nurse Executive and also to the PI Committee when requested. 10. Develops an orientation plan for each new employee specific to their skills and needs. 11. Maintains clinical competence and expertise in specialist area. Provides skilled and comprehensive care to the patients, who because of the extensiveness and complexity of their condition require frequent adaptation of the usual nursing procedures. 12. Responsible for unit compliance with JCAHO standards. 13. Gives direction to the Lead Clinical Nurses of the OB Unit. 14. Other duties include directing the procurement of supplies, purchase of equipment, patient safety goals and all environments of care goals of TCRHCC. 15. Coordinates the hiring process for all candidates in the OB Department. 16. Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications: EDUCATION: A valid, current, and unrestricted Professional Registered Nursing [RN] License to practice nursing in any state of the United States. The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or a territory of the United States. BLS Certification Required. ACLS and NRP within six month to nine months of hire. EXPERIENCE: Must have 2 years of nursing supervisory experience in inpatient hospital setting , and 2-3 years of OB [Labor Delivery/Postpartum/Nursery] Nurse experience with particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
