As the vice president of education and development, you will be a member of the leadership team and responsible for coordinating, developing and implementing development and training programs for our employees, board of directors, and employees and directors of our member cooperatives. This requires a forward-thinking individual with leadership experience and a deep understanding of organizational behavior, change management and leadership development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure department goals align with our strategic plan, mission, vision, and values, focusing on employees' mindsets and beliefs to enhance performance.
  • Drive initiatives to improve employee engagement, satisfaction and organizational culture.
  • Develop, design, plan, facilitate and implement IEC in-person, virtual, and e-learning training programs and online training systems internally and externally for members.
  • Direct the needs assessment for training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the company.
  • Provide assessments, develop, design and deliver programs to support and influence positive culture and performance for member cooperatives.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training in terms of employee accomplishments and organizational performance.
  • Responsible for promotion, registration, logistics and execution of IEC training programs. Maintain attendance tracking and work with participants to ensure they have the information they need before, during and after training events. Oversee billing and payment of vendors.
  • Manage all leadership training programs including RELITE and Leadership Edge.
  • Manage and deliver the to-your-door member training programs.
  • Facilitate training programs, including those involving subject matter experts (SMEs), to ensure an interactive and effective learning experience. This may include coaching SMEs and managing the classroom environment.
  • Create annual professional development training calendar.
  • Manage and evaluate external trainers including contracting, auditing training materials and ensuring course delivery is in accordance with IEC standards.
  • Manage and track training evaluation data and regularly report on training department metrics.
  • Evaluate and recommend the ideal training delivery approach. (classroom, e-learning, gaming, etc.)
  • Develop and oversee annual budgets and expenditures for the department.
  • Oversee the management of all facets of IEC’s customer relations management system, ensuring all information is current and staff members are trained to use the system.
  • Lead, advocate and educate on the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in all employment matters.
  • Write/create and modify learning content for customized training programs and classes.
  • Oversee cooperative careers initiatives and youth programs to increase awareness of and promote career opportunities within electric cooperatives in Indiana and assist members in finding new talent.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, train, manage, and develop a team that includes human resources, the careers and youth partnerships director, the learning and development manager, and the youth and education specialist.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an equivalent of the following education and/or experience.

  • Four-year college degree or vocational training/education in training and development, organizational development, education, or related major required.
  • Minimum five years leading and managing a team.
  • Minimum five years of training and development, organizational development, education, and/or instructional design experience required; experience designing and delivering mobile and e-learning preferred.
  • Human resources experience preferred.
  • Certification in one or more of the following tools, DISC, Strengths Finder, or EQ-I 2.0, is highly desirable.
  • Certification in coaching, or minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience coaching individuals and groups to improve performance.
  • Experience creating training content and PowerPoint presentations and facilitating quality learning programs.
  • Valid driver's license.

The successful candidate will be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with a customer focus, strong project management and planning skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a growth mindset with the ability to execute the ADDIE model and thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. The candidate must also have basic knowledge of human behavior, performance and individual differences in learning and motivation.
